me, and my husband had just rented out a condo, the guy we were rented out the place from wasn't the landlord for the condo, he was renting us the place, that he was renting, illegally. We haven't damaged anything, we scrubbed that place from top to bottom. He had some pots, pans, mattresses, couch, and some little things, which he had said we can throw out. We threw them out, now he is saying were not getting the damage deposit back, and we threw his stuff away, and the place was a disaster. He is also accusing us of stealing some things, which we never did. We had a contract for 3 months, and I was wondering if anyone had been in this situation before. I don't know if we can sue, since he was renting the place out illegally. Like I said, the place was clean as it could be, and we also got the house way messier than we left it.. it was so messy that there were cob webs, ants, and food still in the cupboards.. oh and we are living in B.C, Canada, so that would be the laws we follow.
