If a landlord gives a section 8 tenant, a 90-day notice, can the tenant move out before the 90 days? My sister has section 8 housing, her landlord gave her a 90day notice since he was selling the house. She found housing after 60days, she is ready to move but her current landlord is telling her she needs to wait until the 90days, she would still have to pay her rent through the 90 days. Is that fair? My guess would be, if you give someone 90 days, they should have the liberty to move as soon as they get housing (no new landlord will just wait to rent out their space). Anyhow help would be great. Oh yea, she lives in Los Angeles,.

Here is the deal, my father borrowed full amount on our house. He since passed away due to illness. My mother still has the house. She signed on the loan as well. She fell ill and house went way behind. Now the mortgage company has sold our "contract" to another company and they just foreclosed without delay. Is it legal for them to do this without restructuring the loan since my dad passed away? Were they supposed to modify the loan for my mother? What can we do? Thank you so much!

Long story short my husband got injured in Iraq and he's been receiving medical treatment for 2 years now. He just had surgery to alleviate some pain he is having and the doctor said it could take up to 2 years to fully recover from it. He just re-enlisted for 4 more years however we are not sure if his injuries will get better so that he can stay in and do his job. So basically we could only be living in this town for 1 or 2 more years. Would it be a bad idea to buy a house? The homes here are around 100,000 and the mortgage payment would probably be cheaper then our rent payment. Just not sure if it's a "good idea," if that makes sense. Forgot to mention we would be using the VA loan so we wouldn't have to pay a down payment.

so our apartment complex is notorious for ripping people off. We've heard from several ex tenants and 2 carpet cleaning companies, including the company they use. Anyhow, TG we are finally on our way out of there. My question is: We paid $80 to have the carpet cleaned & tried very hard to clean the apartment spotless to get our deposit back. The assistant mgr informed today that we didn't have to have our carpet cleaned, yet says there are 3 spots on the carpet that they will get a carpet co. to evaluate and see if they can be cleaned out or if they will have to replace the entire carpet!!! Everything else she said was in good shape and considered normal wear & tear. We have been there OVER 4 YEARS! I wondered if in a lease that long.....wouldn't 3 stains on the carpet fall under normal wear and tear?? She is talking about "IF it exceeds your deposit" which is ove $500 they'll "work with us" to pay out the rest. HELP PLEASE.... I don't really want to give them another dime on top of the 42K we've already given them. Thanks so much for any help can we really lose our WHOLE deposit over 3 carpet stains? :(

When I originally gave my security deposit, worth 1/2 month's rent, I was given a receipt on which was written "non-refundable". I asked about it at the time, and was told that it would not be refunded but go toward my last month's rent. This was dealt with my landlord's father as she was out of town at the time. Now, I'm moving out and she is requesting the full month's rent to be paid and she will hand over the deposit at the end of the month. I'm really not comfortable with this at all. The receipt says "non refund" on it and, as i said, she was out of town and did not inspect the apartment before we moved in. We did no damage to it but there is a lot of wear and tear and our $300 deposit would go a long way here and if she refuses to give it back then that's it, isn't it? What do you think? Am I being paranoid or should I be being wary about this? Should I just pay the 1/2 month's rent like I agreed to do at the beginning? That's what I'm leaning toward doing. And what could be the downfalls of doing so? There was no lease agreement. It's kind of late for anything else other than just paying the 1/2. She's virtually unreachable. I've called her 8 times in the last 6 days, leaving 2 voicemails and a message with her husband 3 days ago, and she only called me back tonight and I was at work so she left a message saying she wanted the full amount. I tried calling her back on her home number and cell less than an hour later and again an hour after that and got no answer. So my feeling is that if I pay the full amount, I'm never hearing from her again once we move out. Rent's due tomorrow. :P
