hey i had a huge battle with an idiot that i rented a condo from for 4yrs. the place was awesome! the location was awesome etc. in fact the condo association would use my unit to show too prospective tenants etc. heres the deal, i returned from a business trip, and found a huge mount of mold! it destroyed everything in my place. in the 12mos prior i had 5 emergency room visits for breathing problems, the doctors couldnt find any reason why i could not breathe properly etc. i talked with a neighbor whom was moving out etc. he had a clear visible bad of inhalers and pill bottles i asked em about his breathing problems. he mentioned the place was full of mold! so i knew at this point he was sick, i was sick, and i asked around and found other tenants with huge mold and breathing problems as well! i asked the owner for assistance in mold removal he said uh well uh you turned off your utilities a few mos ago and this caused the mold? i did turn off my utilities as i was out of town a few months as they were gouging people on water bills, my water bill was 140.00 a month for a 1 bdrm condo! insane! so yea i turned off the utilities too show them i wasnt not living there ( stayed at my girlfriends etc) so when they hit me with utility scams, i showed them proof i was not even their, i was just riding out the lease etc. the mold ruined all furniture, clothing, and after checking in depth ie. behind baseboards etc. the mold was black and dangerously high everywhere! i took pics and videos of the damage. i called health dept. and they said they hadnt seen mold like this in 10yrs! they couldnt figure it out etc. they processed me for eviction as i would not pay rent etc. i went too court and waited, they hadnt called my name, i asked court official if they were going to call my name? he said stand outside, they would. i checked 20 min later, he said oh yea, they called your name, they evicted you and youve got too be out in 3 days. i moved out asap, ive got an appt. with a lawyer for damages, but im concerned about the eviction on my record when i go to purchase home or rent again, any advice? can i sue them and get this removed from my record? can a lawsuit find them negligent and trump the small claims court decision? can i sue for mold damages? thanks!

I've been reading up on nyc laws and I'm just unsure because the situation is strange. They have paid their rent for the month of may, but come june 1st (today) they have not paid for this month. They are the ones ending the tenancy and have moved everything out, but we refuse to refund them their entire security money because they have destroyed the carpeting WAY beyond regular wear and tear, also some of the lights are falling apart, the walls are scuffed and drawn all over, and some of the kitchen cabinets and counters are burnt from cooking fires. we said we'd give them half of the security back, and now they want it all and wont move. so they want to stay another month, but they have moved all their stuff out. what can i do to get them to leave?? they also gave no notice of termination of month-to-month tenancy, and say they cannot pay the rent for the next month, which would need to be paid june 1st. WHAT CAN I DO? PLEASE HELP! I just need them to gtfo. it's and incredible headache.

My boyfriend and I are trying to find an apartment. The one we're really interested in is $450 a month with water paid. Right now, he's a full-time student who gets VA benefits ($915 a month). He also regularly sells things on eBay which gives him at least an extra $400 a month. I'm getting ready to go back to school after taking two years off due to family problems. I'm also looking for a job. I have a couple interviews this week, so I'm hoping to have one soon, but even then, it will just be part time. His mother said she would co-sign for us, and she has nearly flawless credit. I also have good rental history and references. Do you think we will be able to rent an apartment under these circumstances? I'm kind of freaking out, and we have an appointment tomorrow to look at this apartment and possibly put in an application. Any input would be appreciated!

Both are in the deed as owners, can one brother try to evict the other because of non payment of mortgage? or take him to court to kick him out of his own house?

My best friend is dating someone from online. He claimed his name is Nash Brennen, and we found out thats a character off of his favorite soap opera. Then he claimed to live in California but he's been having her make cd's and send them to Georgia. How can I find information about the address he gave? I don't want her to continue getting hurt. Me (17) my mate (18) want to move out and rent but we need to get full-time part-time jobs first that much we no...... What should we look for when looking for a house to rent? And more help would be appreciated please?

The house is an estate that was willed to the original owners child(ren). From what I understand, the current owner is not actually living in the home and there are no public records regarding there being any remaining mortgage on the house (its about 70 yrs old). There appears to have been a leak at some point by the stain in the ceiling tile of one of the second floor rooms. The carpet also is in need of replacement (it is pretty worn and ripply in spots). Cosmeticallly, it's pretty dated. The whole kitchen has metal cabinets and the wallpaper needs replaced because it is very dated and I can't tell if the house is just musty and just needs cleaned or if the original owner had been a smoker. There is also a deck. Some of the wood is fairly warped and the posts supported it seem to not be 100% straight up and down. The electrical work may also need to be updated as there are quite a few 2 pronged outlets. I am unsure at the moment what kind of wiring was used and also how difficult it would be to replace in the event it did need to be replaced to be up to code. Finally, there is an overhanging part of the roof that appears it should have a support beam on a corner to support the roof in the event of a significant snow. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
