Me and my husband have been living with my mother-in-low in the apartment complex building. We've been living with my husban's mom as her caregivers cuz she needed 24/7 care so we were caring for her. However, we were never on the lease as tenants of the apartment since the apartment complex was for elderly people only so mother-in-low was the one over 70 years old that's why she was the only one could be on that lease. The problem is that a week ago my mother-in-low past away in the hospital, she was in the hospital for about 2 months and didn't make it, so now since she was the only tenant on the lease we have to move out. But the question is, how long can we stay here without being locked out by landlord/manager? I know that tenants can get an eviction notice if the rent is not being paid and then at least they'd know the date by which they'd have to leave the appartment. In our case we can't pay the full rent as we're just starting our business so money is tight however we need more time to find another cheaper place. We paid half our rent with mother-in-low and can't pay the full rent. So, again the question is since we are not the tenants and not on the lease can we get the same rights as tenants and at least get the eviction notice? or can they lock us out any time without any eviction notice cuz we have lesser rights than tenants? I live in California.

It has been a month and my landlord has not returned my deposit. I left the house in excellent shape. Paid to have it cleaned had carpets cleaned and even touched up paint. I lived there 2 years. He told my new landlord I was the best tenant he ever had! Put he won't return my money. Is there a penalty if it is late in the return in Calif?

This is in central Virginia. I am not paying to this, rather who I am working for it. All I know that it is above the garage, hah. She woman who does this, rents this to the public, so I can ONLY assume what amenities are there. I'm nervous though because what if there is no A/C or internet! Any opinions?

I am 17 and have over a year to prepare but, I want to make sure I am ready and can take this on considering how big of a commitment it is. I am currently only working 20hrs/week due to school and bring home about 270 every two weeks so I have been saving 100 for car and other car related payments and 100 toward moving out. I also plan on having 1-3 room mates to help out with cost. If you could maybe think of things I could buy along the way to store up untill I can move out or maybe a budget for when I do. I know alot of people have to move back in when they first move out I dont want this to happen to me.

I have been renting from this very nice but sometimes ornery older lady she was 51. I walked in and found her dead yesterday so what happens now? The only family she had is a daughter who just turned 18 in february. The landlords best friend wants me to stay there at the house where my landlord died in till friday thats when the daughter gets here from Oklahoma. Is it creepy to live in the house to sleep in the next room over from where she died? Is there ghosts will she come back and try to contact me from the other side? I payed rent for next month already so whats the best advice out there I could REALLY use it. I forgot to mention I was renting from her without any stuff in writing all verbal monthly agreement. She has/had 6 dogs and 3 cats so what happens to them? I am just lost on this whole situation please only serious advice/answers.

I used to have terrible credit (we are talking 480's) and finally got it up to a 510 with NO late payments the last few years. Then with the market being how it is right now i have NO choice but to let my house foreclose. Im scared because of my already low credit score that this is going to hurt renting an apartment once it forecloses! I dont need to buy another house but I want to make sure Im going to still have a place to stay. Are there any suggestions out there on what I can do to raise my credit score or help it out while its in the process of foreclosure? I have a court claim on my score that was PAID OFF but the guy never turned it into court paid as promised and now I cant find him anywhere. I hear it clears my records in 7 years which will be feb of next year but how else can I clear that without him or paying it again?

There were three bids on a foreclosed condo. The bank took a lower full cash offer over a higher 30% down convention loan application. The buyer's agent has not been able to get a reply either verbal or written from the bank representative, in fact he can't even get a phone call in or returned. What are the California regulations about a rejected offer from a bank?
